On the 16th Sunday October, 2022 a twitter post from the interim Chairman of Interim Transactional Governance Committee (ITGC) Alfred Peter Conteh reads “A statement purporting to have emanated from the APC in relation to the Voter Registration in misleading. Our official Team have collected 100% of the 3630 centres nationwide and we eagerly await the release of the provisional result from ECSL to be audited by our team.”

The All-People’s Party Transition Team has not officially released any results relating to the voter registration process. However Interim Transitional Governance Committee (ITGC) Secretary General, Hon. Abdul Kargbo told the Salone Fact Checker Truth Team that the provisional registration result demonstrated how prepared they are as a party. Meanwhile (ECSL), Albert Massaquoi told the Truth Team that the ECSL is the only body has the mandate to release certified results or information of sort. NEW cannot comment as they have not met to discuss the provisional results.

Interim Transitional Governance Committee (ITGC) Secretary General, Hon Abdul Kargbo during an interview with the Salone Fact Checker Truth Team said the release of the provisional registration result demonstrated how prepared they are as a party for the forthcoming presidential and general elections. He said that the contrary tweet by the ITGC Chairman, Alfred Peter Conteh is baseless and uncalled for, adding that the result is not only correct but shows how ready Sierra Leoneans are to vote the Sierra Leone People’s Party out of governance.

Meanwhile, Bumneh Kamara, Public Relations Officer of Interim Transitional Governance Committee (ITGC), informed the truth team that the provisional registration result signed and issued by the Interim Secretary General Hon Abdul Kargbo on behalf of the committee is incorrect and does not represent the party. He added that the party has collated the results during the registration process and will publish it after ECSL does.

The Director of External Relations at the Electoral Commission Sierra Leone (ECSL), Albert Massaquoi told the Truth Team via a WhatsApp message that the ECSL is the only body that has the mandate to release certified results.

The provisional voter registration release came after the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone completed two phases of the voter registration process in preparation for the June 2023 general elections.

The National Election (NEW) Chairperson, Madam Marcella Samba Sesay told the Truth Team that NEW has not met with regards the provisional voter registration and therefore, cannot comment.
